Affiliate marketing training can come in many forms. What I mean by that is there are different ways that affiliates can learn affiliate marketing: Live at Internet marketing training seminars, by a home study affiliate marketing course, or even by just joining an affiliate marketing program that provides the necessary training.
In this article, we’ll give you a great overview of affiliate marketing training, tell you a about a few different affiliate marketing jobs, and also tell you what we think is one of the most overlooked aspects of general affiliate training.
An Overview of Affiliate Marketing Training
First of all, there are a few types of careers related to the affiliate marketing world. When most of us marketers think of the people involved in affiliate marketing, we usually only think of one person: the affiliate. However, there are others involved in affiliate marketing: product vendors and affiliate managers are just a few.
Affiliate managers work at affiliate and Cost Per Acquisition (CPA) companies, where they manage a given number of affiliates. Because affiliate managers are fewer than actual affiliates, affiliate manager training is usually more rare.
In a way, affiliate managers have to be trained to a different level than affiliates, because affiliate managers sometimes have to monitor affiliate accounts and advise affiliates. For example, an affiliate might ask their CPA manager, “Which products convert best?” or “What do you recommend I do?” and the manager has to respond with a truthful, practical answer.
Affiliate Marketing’s Most Overlooked Training Advice…
Perhaps the most overlooked aspect of affiliate training is the very one that will help the most in your success. Building a list is one thing that not enough affiliates are good at. If you intend on becoming successful for the long term, you’ll want to focus on listbuilding.
If you don’t know what listbuilding is, it’s simply the continuous process of attracting visitors to a page where they sign up (via e-mail) to receive e-mail communications from you. This is not spam, as it’s permission-based e-mail marketing. The basic idea behind legitimate, CAN-SPAM compliant e-mail marketing is that, with a growing list, you can develop a relationship with them. You send them informative, content-rich e-mails that they enjoy. Mixed in with the many helpful e-mails you send to them are e-mails where you mention a particular product. When people on your list (your e-mail subscribers) purchase what you recommend, you make an affiliate commission.
In fact, there’s a often-quoted saying in the Internet marketing world: “The money’s in the list.” Some take this a step further an say that “the money’s in the relationship you have with your list,” but regardless: one of the best things you can train yourself to do is to build a list of opt-on subscribers.
Onward.
One thing to keep in mind is that, just as it’s more profitable to specify in a specific niche (as opposed to trying to be everything to everyone), there are also niche-specific affiliate marketing programs. This is especially true in profitable markets. Let’s take fitness, for example. Because there are end users who are fanatical about fitness, they might buy as much fitness-related information as they can. And that’s the benefit of being involved in various affiliate marketing programs: you can cycle offers to your visitors who are perpetually interested in learning more and more about getting in shape.
An essential source of affiliate marketing tips are the many e-books that have come onto the market. Now, be aware that many of these e-books and programs are either outdated, or were never legitimate to begin with. There are so many people out there willing to shovel over a product just to make a quick buck, with little regard for the success of the person who really wants to make a change in their life.
That’s why this Internet marketing blog consistently does product reviews. We try to find all the great affiliate marketing products out there, and tell you about them.
In conclusion, we hope you’ve found this affiliate marketing training article to be very informative.
