Clickbank is a third-party affiliate marketing company, much like Commission Junction. This article serves as an informative Clickbank review and will tell you key things about Clickbank. What separates Clickbank from most other affiliate marketing companies (including Commission Junction), is that they focus primarily on digitally-delivered products.

To truly understand what Clickbank does and how it functions, it’s best to understand how affiliate marketing and e-commerce work. Specifically, it’s best to understand how transactions are made online.
In the paragraph above, we said that CB was a third-party, and by that, we mean that it’s a third-party payment processor. The other two parties are the product vendor (the one who made the product), and the affiliate (the one who promotes the product).
The advantage of having a third-party processor is that the third-party (who collects the money from the customer), makes sure that both the affiliate and the vendor are paid their agreed commissions. Generally speaking, this is a more reliable arrangement than an affiliate-vendor one, where the vendor has their own in-house affiliate program. The potential problem with the affiliate-vendor arrangement is that a vendor might not pay the affiliate the commissions that they owe them. This has happened to many affiliates before.
In fact, in 2008 or 2009, there apparently was a class action lawsuit against one of the most well-known Internet marketing companies around. This class action lawsuit was filed by affiliates who claimed they had not been paid their fair commissions.
Of course, this isn’t always the case. For example, eBay and Amazon are well-known, well-established companies that run their own affiliate programs, and as far as we know, they’ve always paid their affiliates fairly, and on time.
And, this is what can be expected of Clickbank. In all the time we’ve heard about Clickbank and covering Internet marketing news, we’ve only heard one minor complaint from one affiliate who said that one payment was late. Aside from that, we haven’t seen any significant Clickbank complaints. 99.9% of what we’ve heard (as far as payments are concerned), is positive.
Clickbank Scam?
Clickbank itself is not a scam. It’s been around for over 10 years, and many, many transactions have taken place in that time. Plus, thousands of affiliates have been paid on time, consistently, and the company constantly makes efforts to improve it’s quality standards.
One noteworthy fact is that they usually offer a 56- or 60-day money-back guarantee on all the products that are sold through Clickbank.
Having said that, the fact that Clickbank is not a scam does not preclude that some of the products sold on Clickbank are scams. Clickbank probably doesn’t monitor the products in their marketplace as closely as they should, so it’s really up to the buyer to be aware. There are really some very questionable products out there. This might have lead to some Clickbank complaints, because people continue to be mislead by salesletters that say their product will deliver a given number of features, only for the buyer to find that the product hasn’t delivered on the salesletter’s promises.
Clickbank was founded in 1998, over 100,000 affiliates. It’s a place where many digital product developers manage their affiliate marketing programs.
So is it a scam?
In our experience, we have both sold our own, and other vendors products through Clickbank since they first opened their doors. They are one of the most simple and efficient marketplaces for selling and promoting products online. In addition, they continually press forward with maintaining quality standards.
We say, definitely NOT a scam.
