google conquest 300x203 Google ConquestAlex Goad’s Google Conquest originally launched in November 2008.  The big idea behind Google Conquest is that if you could create well-optimized sites that centered around a profitable micro-niche subject, you could earn a good income from the free traffic you’d get from Google.

There are thousands upon thousands of profitable niche and micro-niche markets on the internet.  Within these niche markets are people (consumers) who are looking to spend money.  If you can help these consumers to spend money (or, “intercept that traffic,” as Alex likes to say), you can earn a commission.  When this happens over and over again, these commissions add up…to a substantial daily income.

So, how do you “intercept this traffic”?  How do you help someone, card-in-hand, find what they’re looking for?

That’s where the Google Conquest system comes in.

However, before we go into Google Conquest, it’s important that we take a few steps back and look at the bigger picture.

For the most part, to make money online, you need potential buyers (targeted traffic), and conversions.  (A conversion is when a potential buyers take a desired action, such as clicking an ad, or buying.)

Buyers come to your site, click or buy something, and you earn a commission.  (This doesn’t have to be your own product–no product creating necessary.)

Now, there are many ways to get targeted traffic to your site.  Some are free, some are paid.

Google Conquest focuses on a solid, free way of getting traffic to your site: ranking well in the search engines, such as Google.

Imagine this: A person has a problem that they’re willing to buy a solution to.  They go to Google, type in their query (which is a commercially-oriented query), and your site shows up as one of the Google results.

So…how do you make this happen?  That’s what Google Conquest aims to show it’s customers.

One of the novel concepts of Google Conquest was that of the Challenge.  For the November 08 launch, the 60-Day Challenge commenced around late January 2009.  The goal of the 60-Day Challenge was quite ambitious: to build 40 micro-niche sites which would each earn, on average, $5 a day.  This would equal $200 a day.

For the second Google Conquest launch, which occurred on June 16th, 2009, there was the 90-Day Challenge.  The goal of the 90-Day Challenge (which started in July 2009) was to create at least one authority site.  This is where Google Conquest got the name of it’s second launch: Google Conquest Authority.

Both the 60-Day Challenge and the 90-Day Challenge webinars were mostly instructed by Brian Johnson of Commission Ritual.

As a participant of the 60-Day Challenge, I can say that one of the great things about the Challenge was the fellowship: two or three times a week, we would have live training webinars led by Brian Johnson.  These were exciting, because I was looking forward to moving my business forward each day, and implementing what I was learning was quite rewarding.

Plus, there were the forums.  There’s something almost magical about being in the same boat with others who are aiming for the same goals you are, and being able to communicate with them.  We were able to share ideas, help each other out, and create great friendships.

Since it’s original launch in 2008, Google Conquest has grown into a library of well over 100 hours of video.  There are also audios and .pdf documents that teach the customer how to research and locate a profitable niche market, how to assess the competition, and how to set up a site in that niche market.

In addition to Brian Johnson’s training, there are also tools.  3 of these tools were core components of the Google Conquest system: Blog Colony, Link Cannon, and the B-Net.

Blog Colony

Blog Colony is a web-based software solution that helps you build well-optimized sites that power your empire.  It makes it simple (even for people who have never set up a site before) to set up a simple site with lots of potential ranking power.  On the Google Conquest salesletter, there was a video that demonstrated the set-up of a site in about 7 minutes.  Once you’ve done your preliminary research and are prepared, you can set up your site fairly fast with Blog Colony.

What I like about Blog Colony is that you can provide great content for your site’s visitors: Blog Colony can source articles for you, and allows you to put pictures and videos in your posts with a lot of ease.

Link Cannon

One important requirement for ranking well in Google is getting other sites to link to yours.

However, getting other sites to link to your site can be very time-consuming, and this is where Link Cannon comes in.

Link Cannon is a 3-way linking network where other sites in the network link to your sites, and your sites link to other sites in the network.  This results in a gradual increase of links to your sites, which helps improve your search engine ranking.

B-Net

If you know what an article directory is, and understand the basics of article marketing, then you can understand the B-net.  With the B-net, the network of other Google Conquest members’ sites that are in the B-net serve as the article directory.  With the B-net, you submit a unique article that has links to your site.  When your article gets published on other sites, you get a link back to your site.

Conclusion

One shortcoming of Google Conquest is that there’s now so much information (so many videos and .pdf documents) that if a new member doesn’t start with the Quick Start Guide and the Google Conquest Training Manual, they can be easily overwhelmed.  Even when starting with these, the amount of information can be a lot for some people.  Conversely, for people who want a lot of detail, Google Conquest is great, and will really deliver.  I’ve learned a tremendous amount, and currently have a weight-loss-related site that currently ranks on the first page of Google for a search term that has over 20 million competing pages.  For a person who wants to drive free, targeted traffic to a site (or even learn the entire skillset of setting up a web business), Google Conquest is highly recommended.
