MMasw 300x168 How To Make $1 Million Dollars Online in 3 Steps (Affiliate Summit West Recap)First off, if your B.S. meter went haywire after reading my super hyped headline that’s okay.  I hate hype as much as the next person so I forgive you.

Now get over it, because it’s all true.

To kick things off today I’m going to let you into a huge secret about me, and that title…

And show you the plan I’ve uncovered for making a million bucks on the internet.  (plus see why I’m convinced anyone can do it too)

Now, it was a week ago today that I kicked off Phase 2 of my personal plan to

“Make A Million Dollars Online”

I’ve never formally announced this plan so if you have no idea what’s going on that’s ok.

It’s more of a personal public mission now.  <- I guess the cat’s out of the bag on that one.

Brief Backstory:

I’ve sold into 6 figures online already.  Most of it in markets I don’t care the least about.  However, I really LOVE teaching marketing and this year I’ll be working almost exclusively on reaching the top of the internet marketing community.  In doing so I thought I might as well set a big goal for crossing the 7 digit mark in sales.

One part of the plan is strong and consistent promotion (duh, PromotedProfits) because traffic and promotion is EVERYTHING online.

Another part of my strategy requires that I dive into the market and talk to the guys already at the top.

Previously, I set some goals for the year so that I could accomplish that.   One of the steps was to make it to more events so that I could meet people already having big success.  As fate would have it I was on a plane within the first week of the new year! (hint – setting goals and objectives actually works)

Great, now we’re all up to speed.  As I mentioned, I did some last minute jet setting off to Las Vegas, Nevada for Affiliate Summit West 2012.  (which I announced in email)  It’s a huge event for affiliates and companies to meet and lately a huge crowd of the top internet marketers have been going.

It was even better than I would have imagined, although a bit of a fast paced haze.  In the end, the takeaway lesson was HUGE.

If you were a regular attendee at Affiliate Summit West you likely had a very different experience then me though.

Let me fill you in on what you missed.

Upon arrival at midnight, I dropped my bags at The Flamingo* and synced up with a couple marketing friends that were already out on the town.

*which was disgusting and I’ll never re-visit.  Attention Flamingo hotel Las Vegas you’re welcome to invite me to a suite and prove me wrong.  If so I’ll gladly retract that statement.*

HotelKeyFlamingo 225x300 How To Make $1 Million Dollars Online in 3 Steps (Affiliate Summit West Recap)Back to the story…

A friend picked it and it was directly across from the ASW venue.  What can ya do? At least I got a cool new hotel key.

Note: I love traveling and hotels so I keep all my room keys. I have quite a fancy collection now.

Fortunately, my alter ego Ross Vegas (a nickname I love/hate) has a bit of a reputation among the big name marketers and that first night with a couple friends turned into a wild blur of exclusive parties, and meeting anyone who’s ever done anything big in internet marketing.  It was quite surreal and I spent more time outside ASW than in, or at that crummy hotel for that matter.

Anyway, I’m not saying all that to show off, but rather to illustrate a very interesting point.

While the extravagance and luxury of hanging with them was nice, there was nothing particularly unique or special about these people.  (sorry dudes)

Turns out they just know the right stuff to do, and get into the right places! < BIG LESSON TO LEARN

So after having met and spoken with certifiable millionaires (some even younger than myself) I can assure you one thing.

Anyone can do what they’ve done.

And…

I’m convinced that you can still make massive money online. Here is your plan.

Lessons Learned & The 3 Step Million Dollar Plan:

1.  Get Started

Every one of them has done SOMETHING online.  If you’ll recall, I’ve said that the only Failure in life is not trying.  In fact, I talked to a good many that had simple milestones prior to becoming well known.

Make a plan to take action, and change your future now.  Your next idea could be the one to hit it big.  (don’t worry I’m here to help you learn along the way)

2.  Little Success Builds Future Success

Once you try something, you’re likely to experience some type of favorable results.  Take those and make them bigger.  One of the millionaires I spoke with could barely put up a website and started as a teen.  Each success, however, led to bigger results, until they were doing 6 figures a month with just one site alone.  Yep, a month…

Someone else I spoke with over the trip had recently hit it big with a site that did multi-millions in sales.  I had never even heard of their first site though.

In other words, if you’ve already started than you need to keep pushing harder and focus on growing.  Not everyone is going to hit a home on their first try.  Keep going.

3.  Connect

Finally, the last step is to stay connected.  As digital friends located across the globe, it’s easy to hide behind the screen.  That’s fine most of the time, but eventually you need to step out beyond the monitor and start working with new people.  The smallest connections can literally change your future.  In fact, that same teenager was someone I had helped years ago and now as a result wants to do business.  That would be a surprise except that stuff like that happens all the time if you let it.

It’s really just that simple.  They don’t call it a small world for nothing.

Quick Lessons

1. Branding is big!

My nickname is so cheesy and I secretly hate it, but so many people kept coming up to me and calling me that. It got results I guess.

That’s the power of marketing and a good brand.  It opened a lot of doors, and made some new friends.

In marketing your job is to get noticed.

>>>Marketing is learning how To  STAND OUT in a crowded market <<<

So I just went with it, and had a blast.  Sometimes a good brand just happens and you go with it.

2. Take Risks

I flew out two days before the event without any real plan of action other than knowing I might run into some people I knew.  It worked out quite nicely.

3. Have fun with your work

It was entirely exhausting but refreshing at the same time to meet like minded friends.  I came home with a skip in my step and have been on a productive rush ever since.

Now to wrap things up I’m going to give you a sneak peak into the trip, and all the swanky fun I had.

Enjoy,

I’ll have to look around the blog, but so far it looks good. I’d caution against taking risks because I’ve lost a lot of fkn money through bad business decisions because i listened to the stupid “run with you got and fix as you go” mantra that’s all over the blogosphere…when I should’ve listened to that little voice saying “nooo” lol

oh well, I’ve bounced back.

Good point, I should add… take calculated risks. Also there’s some truth to going with what you got. The trick though, is learning what parts are least important and don’t need as much refinement. Thanks for commenting.

Agree that the title definitely set off my B.S. radar, but after reading the three steps, you can see the truth and simplicity behind how it’s possible.

I think those three steps are simple to understand, a lot harder to implement for most people. Most folks can’t get past step 1! Bottom line:

A million dollars online is definitely do-able. The question is whether or not we’re prepared to put in the effort, develop the patience and discipline and willing to make the sacrifices necessary to make it happen.

Great comment. It’s so much of a mental game within ourselves. Once you “see” how it’s already happening around you, then it’s much easier to accept and push towards for yourself.

My hotel key says Affiliate Summit/Shareasale on it. Looks pretty cool as well. :p

This was my first trip to ASW and I agree the networking is worth the money… if don’t waste your trip hiding in awe of the mulch-millionaires who are for the most part very humble and approachable.

Oh too bad I missed ya. I had a blast. Let me know if you’re heading out to any other big events and we’ll be sure to grab a beverage of choice.
