Perpetutal Traffic Formula is Ryan Deiss‘ upcoming release.  It’s scheduled to launch around July 28th, 2010.  So far, Ryan has released his Perpetual Traffic Report, a follow-up video that explained the report, and now, his Cherry Picker software.  The Cherry Picker is something that Ryan put $10,000 into the development of, and is currently offering it for free, as pre-launch content for Perpetual Traffic Formula.

There are 2 neat things about receiving the Cherry Picker software:

First, the video on the download page features a great lesson in beginner- to novice-level SEO.

Second, the software itself is a step above most free keyword research tools.  If you’ve used the free Google Adwords Keyword Tool, and have liked it, we think you’ll really like the Cherry Picker software.

Like most keyword research tools, to begin using the Cherry Picker,  you simply enter a keyword phrase that you want to rank for.  The Cherry Picker essentially pulls data from Google and Yahoo, and presents it in a chart.  It charts various ranking factors of the first 10 (or 20 or 30, depending on your settings) results for your keyword phrase.  If you know how to interpret these ranking factors (which is what the download video shows you), then you can analyze and see how easy it can be to rank for your chosen phrase.

This is a screenshot of the Cherry Picker software in action. Notice the 7 columns (ranking factors), which are discussed below.

Cherry Picker’s 7 Displayed Ranking Factors

The Cherry Picker software displays these ranking factors in 7 columns:

The first of these is the rank position.  This is self-explanatory: depending on which Google datacenter Cherry Picker pulled it’s results from, it’ll display the top 10, 20, or 30 search results.

Next is the url.  Most untrained observers might ignore this, but in the video, Ryan tells you the importance of having your desired keywords in the domain.  There are a number of people who teach about this, which is known as exact match domain (EMD).  Basically, if your keyword is Toronto Dentist Clinic, and you have torontodentistclinic.com (or, .ca), then that alone (which is an EMD), can really help your ranking.

Next is the title tag.  This is one of the bigger SEO ranking factors, because on search results pages, the title tag is what you see as the blue clickable title of each listing.  Having your keyword phrase in the title tag can benefit you.

Links to url is the 4th column/ranking factor.  This is the number of links that Yahoo shows are linking to the particular ranking page.  (Not the site, but the page.)  This indicates how strong the ranking page is, in terms of backlinks.

Links to domain, which is the 5th column/ranking factor, is the number of links Yahoo indicates are linking to pages across the entire domain.  This indicates how strong the domain of the ranking page is, in terms of backlinks.

The 6th factor is pages indexed.  This is the number of the site’s pages that are indexed.  If a site has more pages indexed, then, generally speaking, the stronger it is.

Finally, Google PR is the Page Rank of the ranking page.  PR ranges from N/A to 10.  The higher the Page Rank, the stronger the page is.  Page Rank is an SEO ranking factor.  It’s one of the 200 (or so) ranking factors Google uses to rank pages, and Page Rank is something that a lot of SEOs look at.

Again, the download video goes through these seven.

Cherry Picker, although free, requires e-mail registration before you begin to use it.

What Is Perpetual Traffic Formula?

In Ryan Deiss’ words, this is “not just another SEO course.”  Yes, Perpetual Traffic Formula is a methodology for getting a lot of website traffic through great search engine optimization.  It’s not like other SEO courses in that it’s innovative: it adds the factor of Human Activity to the ranking consideration.  This is something that, as far as we know, no one else has done before—at least, not the way Ryan has.

We’ve written a Perpetual Traffic Formula review that gives a good overview of what getting traffic, perpetually, is all about.

Cool software. Is the seach phrase you put in to the search field in cherry picker, being tracked anywhere or is it secure and private?
