Search Engine Optimization or SEO is an advantageous way to ensure more traffic your website. More than 80% of internet users search sites such as Google.com when they are looking for something on the web. Most people are not going to view pages and pages of search results to find what they are looking for. 42% of people are going to click on the first item that comes up in an internet search and you are going to want your product to be in that first spot. This is where SEO comes into play. You cannot purchase that top spot. The businesses in that top spot are the ones with the most or the highest rankings based on the results of the search engines.
Types Of Search Engine Results
There are two types of results which will come up when a person searches on a search engine. The first is the natural result which is a result of the keywords you put into your search engine. If you type ‘books’ into www.google.com, Barnes and Noble and Amazon will be in the topmost results every time. There is also a column to the right of the ‘natural’ search and that is the sponsored link column. These are businesses that pay search engines to link to their product or service. If you type ‘books’ into your search engine, sponsored or paid ads to www.dealoz.com or www.half.com will come up in the search.
Ways To Utilize Search Engine Optimization
Some ways to utilize SEO are to ensure that your copy has many of the top keywords pertaining to your business. Keywords “used books”, “books for sale” and “mystery books” are all going to bring Amazon to the top of the search. Another way to optimize your search is to have other relevant websites link to yours. Having content in the form of articles on your site is great way for your site to come up in a search.
Make sure the articles are compelling and include all of the keywords that you think people might search for. Keyword analysis is imperative for any internet marketing venture to be successful. You have to know what customers are looking for and have that information readily available on your site – in the form of articles, links and keywords. If you want to make money with your online business (and who doesn’t?) then it is important to use SEO to drive traffic to your site. SEO will deliver a constant flow of new customers to your site.
Other Ways To Generate Traffic
It’s important to keep your website traffic engaged once they get to your site so make sure it is easy to navigate through your pages. Another way to generate traffic is to use social bookmarking site like Stumbleupon.com. It’s free to register and once you are there, you can register your website and give it a ‘like it’ (an online thumbs up). Then other people who have interests in your type of content, when doing a random search, have the opportunity to ‘stumble upon’ your site.
Be Aware Of Scammers
Finally, be aware of scammers – they’re here, there, and virtually everywhere. Stay away from the folks that come to you promising guaranteed instant results or top placements. These guarantees are not possible. It takes a lot of time and patience to develop a website that will be in the top results of a search, but it’s not impossible. Just make sure you add quality content, rich keywords, and links to other sites and your site will rise to the top.
