Re: Beginner Affiliate Marketing - Planning, Structuring, and Reinvesting

By Bryan | Jul 1, 2008

Confused?

Okay, so I was on one of my favorite IM communities, the forums inside Players with Money, and I was reading a post from a guy who was struggling starting out with affiliate marketing.

The situation was, he was doing everything he should be, and he was taking tons of action, and getting ZERO sales.  In that case I shared with him a structured plan that I used to get started and build and expand on my affiliate business.  I thought you ProProfits readers may benefit from what I told him as well.

Finding that one niche

What it all boils down to is finding that one niche that actually starts to deliver, expanding on it. Then taking that money and throwing it back in partly into the one niche and then into a new niche. Whether it’s outsourcing more articles, or throwing up some adwords ads, or investing in some software that makes what you’re doing go twice fast. Twice as fast = twice the money.

So for instance, say you make $300 in a niche one month, you take $200 and distribute it into that particular niche with a structured plan of attack built upon what you’re already doing successfully, and then adding elements that may or may not work. And even most things you add in can be done freely or very cheaply.

Reinvesting and adding new elements to the game

So for example, say you’re mainly focusing on long-tail article marketing. You do a little research and find a tool say like: http://heyspread.com, which is a simple video submission tool where you pay .05 / submission. The thing is works by the way, and the return on investment, if you structure your videos right, is usually exceptional.< /p>

So there’s $20 invested into your primary niche and a marketing element added that could produce you say an extra $100 or $200 bucks this month.

Now, check it, you’ve $180 left. How can you use it? Commit $100 of it to what I like to call a starter Adwords campaign. What is, is an initial batch of proven keywords, in usually 3-5 adgroups. A lot of the PWM materials talks about how to spot proven keywords, test affiliate offers, and how to get dirt cheap clicks.< /p>

In another thread later today I’ll be sharing an easy tactic to get cheap clicks. Check back here, I’ll post the link.

Now if you can get say a conservative cpc of around .50 you can get around just 200 clicks. But if you can get clicks for say .10 you’re looking at about 1000 clicks. There are ways to get .10 clicks, or even lower, trust me.

Now let’s say you turn just 1% of those visitors, there’s ten sales, say on a $40 / sale product, which is $300 ($400-$100 adspend) back into your primary niche.

Build on what’s been successful

So at this point, you’ve added $80 (video sub) + $300 (adwords sales) back into your primary niche. Hopefully then it keeps coming too. And you’ve still got $80 to distribute back into your niche somehow. Why not build on what’s been successful. Commit $40 of it outsourcing some articles and $40 of it to hire someone to submit those articles, or you could do the subs yourself, or maybe find an article submitter for around $40 that makes it faster.

Personally I use the Pro version of SEnuke which works well, but it’s $97 a month. But it also does social sub, video sub, research, and tons more.

Move into a new niche; rinse and repeat

You’ve still got this $100 to experiment into a new niche. Read above, rinse and repeat. Your primary niche will be generating money for a while hopefully and you’ll keep expanding on it, building links, sites, and getting rankings. You’ll eventually have more money to experiment with new niches, and with a little luck and dedication you’ll find another niche that starts working for you.

Automate your work load

Automate it. Then do it again.. and again, and again, and again… then another time, and another time after that. Until, well… I won’t say that - never be satisfied until you’ve got your new yacht, and even then - not so much…

It’s all about timing and structure.. and a little luck, trust me. But, whatever you do, just don’t stop. It’ll come no matter how much it seems like it won’t.

Think like a marketing hippie and persevere

And remember, positive thoughts are a 1000x more powerful than negative ones, and they bring 1000x the results with them as well. Get it. Stay steady, positive, and keep your eyes open.

So the main idea here is to persevere until you find that one niche that starts to deliver, and use the plan above to build/expand on that "primary niche" and add more niches along the way.

This works, so go out there and make that money.
